Pétanque in the park?
Friends of Newlands Park volunteers are looking at the possibility of constructing a pétanque/boules pitch in the park.
Pétanque is one of the world’s most popular and accessible sports, suitable for all ages, and we believe that a pétanque pitch is a facility well suited to Newlands Park.
In order to move forward, however, they need to prove that there is enough support for this project, and that it would be of benefit to the local community.
Please take a few minutes to fill in this short survey. Your answers will not only help us with our bid for funds for pétanque but will also give us an understanding of how people currently use the park for exercise.
Thank you!

Auldhouse and Newlands Community Lunch
Auldhouse and Newlands Community Lunch
The Auldhouse and Newlands Community lunch group started in 2022 in response to feedback from our local community.
Formerly ATRA (Auldhouse Tenants and Residents Association) would have regular sessions where local people would come and share food and enjoy each other’s company. Covid put a halt to all of this and there were a couple of years where this connection seemed lost. Reintroducing these sessions has been a wonderful thing for our community. We meet roughly once a month for soup, sandwiches, cakes and many cups of tea. We connect, chat and laugh. We all come together as a community, ask how people are doing, all keep an eye on each other. This is the real meaning of community.
This enterprise is supported by NACC as well as several community funds including Pollokshaws Area Partnership and the Glasgow Police community fund.
We will continue to support this fantastic initiative and would like to extend an invite to anyone within our community (or beyond!) who would like to join us.
